#Mission2013: Great Eastern Women’s Run 2013 – The Float @ Marina Bay
It was 23 September 2013 – I made that click – registered myself for the last running event for #Mission2013. And who would have thought, that one last click, would give me a running experience I could never ever imagine! It’s been four days since the event and I’m still trying to get it all settled in me that yes, it DID happen. I have a feeling this is gonna be a really long post. So go on.. grab that cuppa before you continue on reading this.. *lol*
Two months ago, I thought I was pretty much done with registering myself for any of these running events. I was beginning to feel kinda jaded. Considering that the routes would probably be similar with the last ones, the ‘new’ running events were pretty much more hype and fun and the entry rates – well.. I have to tell ya, it just gets higher and higher! So no way was I about to get my psyches up for another. But this one.. This very last 5K event I signed up for was for a different cause. It would be the very first 5K I would be running with my new running momma friends I’ve been What’sAppin’ for the past few months! All these while, we’ve been nothing but just friends in FB and What’s App – cheering each other on every few days to just get out there and do it! There were also days of us just exchanging ideas on recipes, parenting, reading and yes.. the Hollywood & Bollywood gossips here and there too! *lol*
With that, I came to know my intention of taking part in #GEWR2013. It was truly, just to be there for my #SGRunningMoms. Told myself that it wasn’t gonna be a race for a better timing but just to be there, the way my #RunningBuddy been with me on my very first 5K and so I did.
One month before the race day, I realized that we still didn’t get a chance to do a QuickRunMeetUp together. Everyone was pretty much getting a lil jittery. Me included. That shin splints on my left didn’t seem to go away! Couldn’t meet, couldn’t run, but I could still cheer each other on somehow.. The next few weeks went by in jiffy. Then one night, I dunno what made me, I realized I had just shared my own story in #GEWR2013 Facebook Contest.
And then one night, as I was about to doze off.. This just appeared in my Facebook timeline!!!
All the good things.. just kept coming in right after that night! In case you’re wondering, this was my submission..
When #GEWR2013 says they’re gonna give you VIP entitlements, I tell ya – the definitely will and boy they sure did!
Everything went smoothly for me.. From the Race Entry Collection Day to a special invite to the Elite Meet & Greet Session, that one night stay at the Ritz Carlton-Millenia Singapore to the very day – the Race Day itself. It felt so unreal! Me?! Receiving all that good things? Well, I humbly accept it with open arms and my dream of taking my sister for a one night stay did come true.. And that very intention of running with my #SGRunningMoms went oh so awesomely!
Along the way, just through this event, I’ve made some new friends like awesome running mom (like Pamela) , awesome running friend from Malaysia (oh that sweet fairy!) and to my ultimate surprise of it all – I’ve received fantastic news of friends who’re all set to lacing up their laces once again just by viewing all my running pics I’ve shared online! All Is Well indeed! – For that was truly my intention when I first started sharing my running adventure.. – All these joy and good feelings – are just the perks of being a runner. *lol* Sounds unbelievable huh? Me? Runner? Well, I didn’t believe it either.. till I look back at my endless photos about running I’ve taken for the whole of 2013 – and it ain’t even December yet! *lol* Oh I’m so blessed! Really Am!
Anyhoo.. Come on.. Take a peek at the rest of my #GEWR2013 adventure in pics – Hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do in sharing them all with you 😀

Days after all that excitement, I received yet another awesome surprise — this just adds up to the perfect ending to my #Mission2013.. On the eve of my birthday, I sent a PM to Mina Samuels – the author of “Run Like A Girl” And a few days after my ‘last 5K of 2013’, she replied to me!
With that, I just can’t help it but to look forward to all the joy running will surprise me this coming 2014.
I dunno about you, but from where I’m at right now, I am so with Bart Yasso.
